The Communication Landscape of France

As with all developed countries France also relies heavily on having excellent communications capabilities and therefore pays particular attention to the different types of communication networks it possesses. It possesses a variety of ways by which it communicates locally and abroad.

Telephone usage

In 2009, there were over 36 million telephone users with over 35 million users living in metropolitan France in the same year. The telephone system is highly sophisticated and consists mainly of an extensive cable and microwave radio relay system that employs the fiber-optic cable which is connected directly to the satellite system. France’s international link is adequately covered by the use of 5 antennas – 2 for India and the other 3 for the Atlantic Ocean. It also utilizes HF radiotelephone link with more than 20 countries.

A total of 7 radio national networks operate in France comprising France Inter (Radio France which provides a general variety of programs; France info providing a 24 hour news and information service; France Culture dishes out information on art, culture, science, philosophy and the like; France Musique specializes in classical music and jazz; France Bleu connects and provides programs for regional stations; FIP offers a wide range of music, hip hop, jazz, rock, blues and other music genres. The last national network, Le Mouv’ provides pop music targeting mainly the young population.

Prior to 2012, the people of France enjoyed watching television using the analog viewing system. The system however gradually gave way to digital viewing and it was then projected that by 2012, 95% of the metropolitan population would adapt their sets to digital viewing. The projection was largely accurate. Changes to digital TV started in 2005 with the introduction of Pay TV channels using the MPEG-4. Changes continued and by 2008, only 34% of the French population was using analog TV as the only reception mode. Adaptations persisted and France Télé Numérique was created to help people switch from their analogue TV to digital TV.

France also provides an internet service to its people, having been allocated the internet country code: fr. According to 2000 figures, the country has 62 internet service providers. It also accommodates 15 million internet hosts with the bulk located in metropolitan France. There are an astounding 45.262 million internet users with just over 44 million living in the metropolitan areas, according to 2009 figures.

Mobile phones

France holds its own in the mobile department having the 4 mobile networks of Orange, SFR, Bouygues, Télécom and Free. According to 2009 figures, there was a total of more than 60 million users of cellular phones in France with just over 50 million in metropolitan France. The numbers are not far removed from a population of just over 60 million people and also bespeak of the wealth and technological sophistication of the country. The satellite telecommunications system is under the effective control of TELECOM 1 (TC1) which provides high speed data transfers between different departments of subscribing companies. France’s overseas departments are also provided conventional links for facilitating communications.

The Two Sides of the Birth Control Debate Continues On

The debate over controlling birth is not a new one. In fact it has been going on for hundreds if not thousands of years. In the late 19th and early 20th century America, this debate could be summed up by the views of two of the most adamant debaters; Anthony Comstock and Margaret Sanger. Their polar views were based on moral purity and a woman’s control over her own body and life.

The Purity Movement of the late 19th century was opposed to any form of artificial birth control, believing that it deprived the sacrament of marriage; Anthony Comstock was a major influence in this movement. Comstock and the purity movement feared education in sex and contraception would awaken sensuous thoughts in the minds of young people leading to becoming a prostitute, visiting a prostitute, or other morally impure actions. Prostitution was a big concern of the people during this time, according to Margaret Sanger in her article, No Gods, No Masters, there were approximately 35,000 women prostitutes in New York City alone in 1914.

The Comstock Law of 1873 prohibited any written or spoken words that could be adapted or intended for preventing conception or procuring abortion, or for any indecent or immoral use. According to Comstock, anyone under the age of twenty-one was still a child and needed the protection that the Comstock Law provided. In I Am Almost a Prisoner, Sanger published letters written by women pleading for contraception education. Most of these women were married and had given birth before the age of twenty-one. Thus, it would have been illegal to give these women contraceptive education before their marriage.

Margaret Sanger wanted women to be educated in matters of sex and birth control so they could control their own bodies and lives. These women questioned whether they should leave their husbands in order to control the birth of yet another child. Many stated that their husbands would get mean, say awful things to them or the children, would leave them with no way to survive, or force them into sex when they would try to withhold sex in order to control having more children. The stress of multiple children impacted both the men as well as the women. Some tried drugs to get rid of the pregnancy, others used dangerous and illegal abortions to control their number of births.

These women did not hate their children. Instead, they were concerned about not being able to care for them properly. They worried about a life of going hungry, not having proper clothing, access to health care, and poor education. These women expressed the desire to raise the children up properly, to be good citizens, but could not because of the large number they were having. Sanger compared marriage laws and customs of that time with sexual slavery, compulsory motherhood, and slavery through motherhood.

The opponents of birth control felt it was their moral obligation to uphold the Church’s teachings. They felt that learning of sex and ways to control the number of children one had would lead to promiscuity and even prostitution. They felt that women and the family unit would be devastated and condemned if women were allowed to control their number of births. The advocates for sex and birth control education felt that women and the family unit were already devastated and condemned to a life of poverty, despair, and ill-health brought on by having more children than they could properly bring up. And, the debate goes on.

Strength In Tenacity

TENACITY is a trait which is considered as a laudable and coveted attribute because this indicates that individuals are motivated to succeed. Tasks and goals are done. People who are determined by nature are generally self-motivated and have a strong internal drive to accomplish success. This is often associated with similar characteristics of RESILIENCE, which is the power to overcome setbacks rather than give into them.

In addition to going hand-in-hand with resilience, this is also related to the qualities of perseverance, which is the ability to keep going even when times are tough, and persistence. One’s TENACITY can show through in many aspects of life. This shows a willingness to succeed and overcomes quandaries, such as fatigue and frustration. Many individuals achieve great levels of success in academic fields and in sports or hobbies through determination and motivation, but pure talent also definitely plays a contributing role. Sometimes, people lack extraordinary talent but accomplish great feats through sheer willpower and determination.

SUCCESS requires patience and determination. It is the same with you. You need time to achieve goals, especially big goals, and this requires patience. If you are too impatient, desiring to have immediate results, you might be disappointed and quit your goal.

You have to study to improve yourself, change your mindset, and work toward your goal so that it will be realized. It is so easy to quit when you are confronted with obstacles and opposition. However, you feel a great sense of satisfaction when you don’t give up. Every person meets obstacles on the way, but only those who don’t let the obstacles discourage them, truly achieve success. This applies to career, sports, learning, and everything else.

PERSISTENCE is also a sign of inner strength and of strong character. Without this, you cannot make any progress. This is an ability that makes a person a winner against all odds. The person who keeps going is the one who wins because success could be just within your reach, and just a little more time and effort are required.

There is a great feeling of achievement when you persist and don’t give up! When you persist, you go the whole way and don’t turn back after a few steps. Only those who keep going reach their destination. Go on with your plans and goals, and do not give up when you face obstacles or problems.

PERSEVERANCE is perhaps the most important key to success in any endeavor. It can replace deficiencies in talent. While this is widely acknowledged, not many people seem to have developed this important ingredient in their life.

Without knowing what is truly important to you, it is almost impossible to be truly persevering. One must have a strong reason for keeping on a chosen path. That reason must be important enough to override the less important factors that can cause discouragement.

Make sure that what you are aiming for is grounded on solid foundations. An objective that is not ethical will create inner conflict in you. Your aim should be morally sound. This must not cause harm to others. This must not be selfish.

Develop the habit of finishing what you started. Once a person has developed this habit, he/she has within him/her a powerful tool connected with perseverance. He/she will not give up until something is done, no matter how inconvenient.

Nothing in the world can take the place of TENACITY especially when you aim at perfection in everything, even if in most cases, this is unattainable. But they who aim at EXCELLENCE and persevere will come much nearer to this than those whose laziness and despondency make them give up.

This article highlights the importance of tenacity in succeeding life despite its hurdles. When we are determined and when we persevere, everything is possible even the unattainable.

Think Tanks Only Work When People Are Allowed To Think and Have Credible Things to Say

There are lots of Think Tanks in the World, some say too many, others say not enough – those who say too many can’t keep track of them all or they are policy planners and don’t like dissenting opinions. Those who say there aren’t enough realize that the world has so many problems there is just too much work to do and not enough people deployed to do them. Then there are people like me who note that there are too many politically motivated thinking groups who have agendas and use their influence to grease the skids for their dictatorial policy direction. Yes, let’s talk shall we?

There was an interesting piece in CFR Council on Foreign Relations Online Magazine posted on September 28, 2015 titled; “China’s Think-Tank Great Leap Forward,” by Yanzhong Huang. The article noted that while China has many think tanks in many sectors of military, science, economics, and spanning many social issues, these groups are not turning out viable long-term strategies for China. One quote in the article was quite telling:

“In their book “Global Think Tanks” Wang Huiyao and Miao Lu argued that ineffective think tanks accounted for the high error rate (30 percent) in China’s economic policy making.”

The article goes on to state; “The absence of internationally reputable and influential think tanks in China can be attributed to the Soviet think tank management system. Imported by China in the 1950s, the system nested the few think tanks in the party-state apparatus. Researchers in these think tanks were thus no different from state employees in other sectors except that they were advising the government on policy matters,” but the authors of this article did note that things have changed since the 1980s, but still lack the ability to forecast and plan properly.”

It turns out that those who can best guess the future are the ones who are creating it. No one who is only a mere observer does very well when projecting out prediction 10-years out. Public Policy thinking groups seem to do well when making futurist predictions 3-5 years out and some have 80-90% accuracy rates. Please view this YouTube Video; “Arthur C Clarke predicting the future in 1964,” to best understand why this is. What Arthur C Clarke said about predicting the future in 1964, 50-years ago, is very similar to the realities today – people like Ray Kurzweil of the Singularity Institute would back him up in his comments in the present period as accurate still.

Those groups that make public policy really need to consider what they are doing and why – if they are just trying to prove themselves right today, they will generally be wrong tomorrow. Think on this.

Massage in Bucharest

Recognize it! You’re busy! And so must be! That’s what life is like! But you want more than that, you want to do more for yourself and massage can help. Because massage makes more than a simple relaxation of the mind and body. It keeps your body in shape and gives you enough energy to make you enjoy a longer life better than you do it today.

Massage releases stress. At the moment, stress is a universal evil. Every time you are late, every time you avoid a car in traffic, every time you have trouble working, stress is doing his job. Each time adrenaline increases heart rate and cortisone levels and organs respond to the measure. You will be in a state of nerves and constant agitation.
When there is no release of stress, serious problems such as an upset stomach, hypertension, sleep disturbances, chest pain, or existing illness may worsen.

Some of the changes that may occur are: Anxiety, lack of concentration, depression, permanent fatigue, muscle or bone pain, sexual dysfunction, excessive sleep or insomnia

All these stress-related problems can be diminished and some can be totally eliminated by massage. The researchers concluded that a massage session can lower heart rate and blood pressure, relax your muscles and increase endorphin production. The massage also releases serotonin and dopamine and the result is a general relaxation, both physical and mental.
Our body care must be at the top of the priorities.
By adding the massage to your routine you will look much better and you will be much healthier and relaxed. Massage can improve your vitality and mood. Massage can prepare for a long and beautiful life.

Our masseuses personalize each massage session according to the needs of the individual.
Our massage parlors offer a variety of relaxation styles and techniques to help you. Apart from relaxing, massage can be a powerful ally in reducing pain, increasing energy levels, improving mental and physical performance

We recommend : HotAngels , VipZone , JadePalace , ThaiPassion

After a massage session, you will see how the mental prospects are enriched, the body allows easier handling, better pressure resistance, relaxation and mental alertness, calm and creative thinking.
When you have the impression or force yourself to stay straight, your body is not actually aligned properly. Not only does the posture look bad, but it forces some of the muscles to go muddy all day, while others become weaker. After a long time, the incorrect position may cause other drops. For example, internal organs press on what affects digestion, breathing ability is also diminished, which means that much less blood and oxygen reaches the brain and hence all sorts of other complications.

Massage allows you to return your body to the track. Allowing the body to make healthy and accurate movements is one of the greatest benefits of massage. Massage can relax and restore muscles injured by bad posture, allowing the body to position itself in a natural, painless position.
Apart from posture, there is also anxiety. One of the signs of anxiety and stress can also be heavy breathing. When the body begins to breathe too little and deeply instead of breathing at a natural rithm, it is impossible for one to relax. One reason may also be that the chest muscles and the abdomen get tightened and the air gets harder.

Massage plays an important role in learning the body how to relax and how to improve breathing. Respiratory problems such as allergies, sinuses, asthma or bronchitis are a group of conditions that can benefit from massage. In fact, massage can have a positive impact on respiratory function.

Many of the muscles in the front and back of the upper part of the body are breathing accessory. When these muscles are tight and shorten they can block normal breathing and interrupt effective breathing natural rithm. Massage techniques for stretching and relaxing these muscles improves breathing function and breathability. Massage leads to an opening of the chest as well as structural alignment and nerve dilatation that are required for optimal pulmonary function. A good way to treat respiratory problems with massage is the taping made in Swedish massage. When done on the back, along with vibrations, it can detach the mucus from the lungs and can clean the airways for better later function.

Massage not only relaxes muscles, but helps people become aware of daily stress levels. Once the body recognizes what really means relaxation, the mind can rest easily relax before the stress becomes cornice and harmful. This will help you enjoy a balanced life. Massage controls breathing, allows the mind to re-create relaxation before the occurrence of chronic and harmful stress and increases the level of energy.
