Isabella was banished by Edward III when he learned of his mother's role with her then lover, Roger Mortimer, to imprison and murder his father, Edward II, at Berkeley Castle.
She spent the last 30 years of her life in Castle Rising, where, in her old age, she joined an order of nuns called Poor Clares.
