Minister at Jamestown in 1672. He and Susanna moved to Gloucester County, where he was minister of Petsworth Parish at the time of Nathanial Bacon's Rebellion, 19 Sept. 1676.

Wadding was a loyalist and refused to take the oath of allegiance exacted by Bacon and encouraged other to refuse. Bacon "commited him to the Guarde, telling him that it was his place to preach in the church, not in the camp. In the first,he may say what he pleased, but in the last, he (Wadding) was to say no more than what should please him (Bacon); unless he could fight to better purpose than he could preach."
